
PRESS RELEASE – ( Hagatna, Guam) The 2015 Asia Pacific (ASPAC) Little League Girls Fast Pitch Softball Regional Tournament completed Day 3 at Jose C. Guerrero Stadium and concluded play on Friday, June 12, 2015. In the Majors Division (ages 11-12), the Philippines got the 22-1win over Australia in Game 3 to sweep the Best-of-Five Series, 3-0.
Philippines starter Julia Carsi Cruz went two innings gave up just two hits, no runs, striking out four, to pick up the win. Danielle Barnes took the loss. In the top of the 3rd, Azusa Murano cracked the rare Inside-the-Park, Grand Slam home run, to put the Philippines ahead 14-0.
Murano finished the day, going 2-3, with four RBI, scoring two runs. For the Philippines, Alex Romero Salas went 3-3, two doubles, a triple, an RBI, and scored four times. Martine Francisco was 3-5, a triple, an RBI, and scored three runs. The Philippines advances to the Little League Softball World Series (LLSWS) and will represent the region in Portland, Oregon from August 13-19, 2015.
In the Big League Division (ages 14-18) the Philippines shut out Guam, 12-0, to take Game 3 and sweep the Best-of-Five Series, 3-0. Arlyn Bautista got the win in relief pitching three scoreless innings, allowing no runs, on just one hit and striking out seven. Liberty Tajalle suffered the loss. For the Philippines, Shaira Damasing was 2-2, a triple, an RBI, and scored two runs. The Philippines will represent the region and will travel to Sussex, Delaware to participate in the LLSWS from August 2-8, 2015.
The Closing Ceremony will be held at Jose C.
