Record setting accomplishment

Armie Almazan finished 3rd overall, but her goal was accomplished after setting a new record for the 69 kilo weight division in snatch after she dropped from the 75 kilo weight class. After breezing through the 60 and 63 kilo weights, Almazan needed to give her all to lift the 66 kilo overhead for the new record.

“I was hungry today,” said Almazan, both figuratively and literally. “I’ve never hit 66 in a competition so this was definitely the goal. Thank goodness my coach was here to get me warmed up for the lift, making sure I don’t warm up too early since I’m one of the last to lift.”
