FRIARS CLAIM CHAMPS OF 2020 PRESEASON TOURNEY

The final day of the GSPN Preseason Tournament wrapped up Friday evening with the Championship Game between the FD Friars and JFK Islanders, preceded by the 5th place game between the Sanchez Sharks and Guam High Panthers.

FD 77, JFK 47

Islander guard Jeremiah Kintoki nailed a three-pointer right before halftime to get within two points, down 29-27 in an exciting first half. The Friars flipped the switch and went on a 29-6 run in the 3rd quarter alone to blow the game wide open.

Friars guard Isaiah Pelkey scored a game-high 23 points and shot an efficient 9-of-14 from the field, including 3-of-4 from down town. Pelkey played aggressive and with an edge all game as if someone didn’t play his warm-up playlist before the game that he spent all-night working on.

Fellow guard Matthew Santos scored 13 points and All-Tourney big man Matt ‘The Sleek Freak’ Fegurgur added 10 points and a highlight dunk in the first half.

Islander Rodson Simina was the lead man for JFK scoring 15 points.

The Friars had a win margin of +42.6 points per game through their five game run.
