The 35th Liberation Mile got Guam’s 77th Liberation festivities underway Wednesday morning as 83 runners took on the traditional event through Anigua and Hagatana that ends in CHamoru Village. The Liberation Mile usually precedes the Liberation Day Parade, but with no parade this year, the focus was all on the runners.
Coming in 1st place for the males is no stranger top finishes in Derek Mandell, completing Wednesday’s race in a blazing 4:45. 1st place finisher for the females was Sharon Hawley with a 5:49, who has become a strong race competitor in her two years on island.
