
PRESS RELEASE – The Andersen Air Force Base Lady Bombers basketball team had their 41 game winning streak in the Lady Triton Super League broken on Monday night in the UOG Calvo Field House, as Fuetsa routed the Bombers 97-64. The UOG Lady Tridents picked up a win by forfeit on Monday when Acdavate only had four players at game time and the 5 minute forfeit time. UOG wins the game 20-0.
In the nightcap, the 41-game win streak ended as Fuetsa took an early lead over the Lady Bombers and never looked back. The Bombers only had 6 players on the night and finished the night with only four players on the court. Fuetsa jumped out to a 24-9 lead after the first quarter as Joylyn Pangilinan hit five 3 point shots in the quarter. The Bombers cut the lead to 8 points at half-time as they outscored Fuetsa 23-16 in the 2nd period and trailed 40-32 at the break.
But Fuetsa exploded for 27 points in the 3rd quarter and the Lady Bombers could only muster 10 points in the period and trailed 67-42 going into the 4th period. Fuetsa scored 30 points in the 4th period and the Bombers could never get back in the game and lost 97-64. The Lady Bombers ended the game with 4 players after an ankle injury and an ejection reduced the Bomber squad.
Pangilinan scored 34 points for Fuetsa while Maria Paulino and MaeAnn Payano added 18 and 17 points, respectively. Destiny Patrick scored 29 points for the Lady Bombers.
Fuetsa moved to 5-3 on the season and will play Acdavate in the semi-finals of the Lady Triton Super League on Monday night at 8:15 pm in the PBS Guam TV Game. The Lady Bombers are now 7-1 in the Super League and are the #1 Seed in the playoffs. In the semi-finals, the Lady Bombers will play the winner of the Lady Tridents and BallHers game on Wednesday night in the first round of the playoffs.
The Lady Bomber winning streak had lasted for 3 full seasons of 10-0, 12-0 and 12-0, plus 7 straight games this season.
The Lady Tridents are now 2-6 on the season after the forfeit by Acdavate who had only 4 players at game time and the 5 minute forfeit time. Acdavate falls to 5-3 on the season and is tied with Fuetsa for 2nd place in the league. Acdavate is the #2 Seed for the playoffs, as Acdavate beat Fuetsa twice in the regular season. Fuetsa is the #3 Seed. The Lady Tridents are the #4 Seed while BallHers at 1-7 in the league are the #5 Seed.
Lady Tridents plays BallHers on Wednesday night at 7:00pm in the first round of the Lady Triton Super League playoffs. With the winner playing the #1 Seed Lady Bombers on Monday night in the Super League Semi-Finals.
Entry to the Super League Playoffs is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and non-UOG students, while UOG students and kids 5 and under can attend for free.
