MEN’S TENNIS MEDAL FOR FIRST TIME EVER AT PACIFIC GAMES

History in the making!

The Guam men’s tennis team made history by medaling for the first time ever at a Pacific Games, taking the gold Tuesday afternoon in the team event.

After many attempts to get on the podium, 2023 was finally the time in the Solomon Islands when our men’s team pulled off a medal.

In the finals against Tahiti, Danny Llarenas put Guam into a prime spot for gold by winning his match 7-6(7), 6-2. Camden Camacho put Guam one set away from victory after sweeping his first set 6-0, but then crumbled against his Tahitian opponent 2-6, 0-6, forcing the doubles match.

In the decisive doubles, Llarenas teamed up with Mason Caldwell to win it 6-4, 6-4.

Semifinals

In the semis, Guam easily beat Fiji. Llarenas won 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 and Camacho crushed it 6-0, 6-0.
