The Harvest Christian Academy Eagles and the John F. Kennedy Islanders both came into their Saturday game with similar records, eager to earn a victory. However, both teams left with similar records again as both were unable to come up with a goal after 80 minutes of play at the JFK field.
The Islanders tested Harvests’ keeper Jae In Noh all game long, taking a variety of shots at the goal. The Islanders kicked it up a notch in the last few minutes of the game, sending an array of shots Noh’s way, but up to the challenge, Noh blocked and stopped every ball that came at him.
“I knew we were going to have a rough time on the field. They gave us a run for their money,” said head coach of the Islanders Rudy Restuvog.
The Islanders aggressively established their offense as they managed to keep the ball on their opponents side of the field for majority of the game.
“Something that we need to keep emphasizing is how our communication is,” said head coach of the Eagles Bryce Pegram.
Because of better communication in the second half, compared to their depleted communication in the first, the Eagles earned more chances at a shot at the goal. However, JFK keeper Nikolas Masnayon severed all attempts that the Eagles took.
The Eagles and the Islanders now hold identical records of 4-2-1.
