COUNCIL SEEKS SPORTS NOMINATIONS

PRESS RELEASE – The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports invites members of the public to nominate sports role models and exemplary fitness programs for consideration for the council’s annual awards.

The Eleventh Fitness & Sports Awards banquet will be held Thursday, September 25, 2014, but complete nominations must be submitted by August 15, 2014.

Nomination forms can be picked up at Cars Plus (cashier’s office) and Inafa’ Maolek (475-1977) or Strike Zone. Nomination forms also are available online at www.gethealthyguam.org or can be faxed by request to fitness council chairman Pat Wolff at 475-1974.

Most inspirational, youth sports coach, lifetime achievement, outstanding athlete, sportsmanship, outstanding physical education teacher, outstanding fitness trainer are just a few of the categories of awards for which nominations are now being solicited from the general public. There are also program award categories such as sports tourism, village fitness, employee fitness program, innovative sports project, fitness project, media award, and dance sport.
