PXC 45 FEATURES SIX FLYWEIGHT BOUTS

Six flyweight bouts are ready to rock PXC 45 next week.

Shane Alvarez faces UFC veteran Darren Uyenoyama

On October 24th, Saipan’s Shane Alvarez will face his toughest challenge to date when he takes on UFC veteran Darren Uyenoyama. Alvarez is 10-1 in MMA and is coming off of a decision win over Jay Tenorio. Alvarez has shown that he has a strong chin and perseverance to weather the storm and eventually finish his opposition. He will need all of those tools against Darren Uyenoyama.

While Uyenoyama has a modest 8-5 record, the UFC veteran has tallied notable wins over Shuichiro Katsumura, Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto, and Rambaa Somdet. His pedigree is jiu jitsu, and the black belt looks to get Alvarez to the ground early and work for a submission.

Purebred Jiu jitsu ace matched up with Underworld Xtreme Jiu jitsu ace

Mike Sanchez of Purebred Jiu jitsu makes his pro debut at PXC 45 when he takes on Underworld Xtreme’s Scotty Eclavea. The jiu jitsu brown belt is ready to bring a show to the local audience.

“I’m very excited to make my pro debut, especially here with the home crowd in attendance.”

The highly decorated grappler will have his hands full with the more experienced Eclavea. Eclavea holds notable wins over Ricky Camp and is a National Guard Combatives 2014 Champion.

Guam’s McKlane Alfred will fight Saipan’s Vince Masga in a flyweight fight. Alfred is a purple belt in jiu jitsu from Underworld Xtreme and has knockout power in his hands. The flyweight fighter submitted Saipan’s Mark Nuique via rear naked choke back in June at PXC 44.

Vince Masga hails from Saipan and is looking to avenge the loss of stable mate Mark Nuique. The Trench Tech fighter is very quick and has improved his fitness considerably. Once competing at 145 pounds, Masga has made the comfortable cut to the 125 pound division.

PXC 45 will take place on Friday, October 24th, and will feature a stacked fight card, with professional MMA matchups showcasing some of the best international fighters.

QUICK HITS

Guam’s Wayne Blas completed his 13th Boston Marathon and 38th marathon overall.
The island’s record holder in the distance, Blas finished this year in 2:35:21.
“I’m very happy with this result because seven months ago, I was sidelined with a stress fracture that kept me out for three months. No running! To come back on an abbreviated marathon build and finish one of the toughest races strong and healthy was a big win for me.”
His time of 2:29:38 at the 2023 Chicago Marathon and World Marathon Majors Age Group Championships stands as the Guam National Record.
