PRESS RELEASE – Defending champions Quality Distributors latched on to the fourth and final playoff spot in the Bud Light Women’s Futsal League following the final week of regular season matches at the Guam Sports Complex Gym.
After Quality dropped its Week 5 match to Hyundai, a Doosan Lady Crushers win over the Paintco Lady Strykers in the next match created a three-way tie for the final two spots in the playoffs. The Lady Strykers took the No. 3 position with minus-three goal differential, and Quality ranked at No. 4 with a minus-six goal differential. The Lady Crushers finished its 2014 campaign with a minus-twelve goal differential.
Hyundai (3-1) finished in the No. 2 spot after its 7-3 win over Quality in Week 5. Shana Spindel, Alyssa Benito and Ashley Besagar each scored twice for the winning team. Tiana Piper scored Hyundai’s other goal. Nieves Cabreza scored twice for Quality and teammate Paige Surber also scored.
Simie Willter, Skyylerblu Johnson, Colleen Naden, and Hinako Ito all scored in the Lady Crushers’ 4-2 win over the Lady Strykers. Allison Burnett and Alexy Dacanay scored the Lady Strykers’ goals.
In the league’s Golden Boot race, 12 goals in four matches by the Lady Rovers’ Rhoda Bamba, which includes a seven-goal haul against the Lady Crushers in Week 4, was enough to win the award. Spindel came in second place with nine goals, followed by last season’s winner, Surber, with eight goals.
The No. 3 Lady Strykers are set to play No. 2 Hyundai at 3 p.m. Sunday in the first round of playoffs, followed by No. 1 Lady Rovers facing No. 4 Quality at 4 p.m.
The Lady Rovers move into playoff action with an undefeated record from the regular season.
There is no admission fee to watch the matches. A full schedule is available online at http://www.guamfa.com/all-leagues-womens-futsal-results
