CATCHING UP WITH RICKY CAMP BEFORE PXC 49

After coming out to a blazing (3-0) start to his professional MMA career, Guam’s Ricky ‘2-slick’ Camp has since gone (2-3), (0-3) in the last three PXC events. He’s improved his all-around game since his last PXC fight and Camp is still out to prove his skills in his still young pro career.

After coming out to a blazing (3-0) start to his professional MMA career, Guam’s Ricky ‘2-slick’ Camp has since gone (2-3), (0-3) in the last three PXC events. He’s improved his all-around game since his last PXC fight and Camp had even been crowned the 135 lb. champ of Saipan’s Rites of Passage earned in April 2014.

His victory in Saipan came over Vince Masga for the title. Camp then defeated Emilio Urrutia by unanimous decision, his first decision win of his pro career, proving he can win in all facets. Camp is now (5-3) and ready for higher hills to climb.

However, Camps last victory in the PXC was in 2011 and his last loss in the octagon came in PXC 42 in 2014 via split decision to Trevin Jones. But he’s a different fighter and will display that at PXC 49 against a very willing opponent in Saipan’s Jarome Cruz.

“I feel good for this fight and I’ve been training with Spike 22, Groundfu, and Countershot. I’m so honoured to be apart of gyms that are humble and hard working,” added Camp on how’s been readying for his upcoming bout.

“My opponent is no slouch and I know he’s hungry for more wins even though  have more experience in the cage.”

Camp had also been training with high profile fighters like Guam’s UFC fighter Jon Tuck, Guam’s Bellator star Baby Joe Taimanglo, and current PXC champion Kyle Aguon. Camp also credited training partners Jesse ‘The Spiderman’ Taitano and Frank ‘The Crank’ Camacho, who will also be stepping into the octagon on Friday.

Making weight had never been a problem for Ricky and after Thursdays weigh ins he can focus on the fight itself.

Shoutouts

“I’d like to thank my sponsors Ifit, Crowns, Spike 22, Nutriville, Enewear Guam, and  High Blood Pressure for helping me get through this tough road and it’s now time for the fun part!”
