PRESS RELEASE – The Personal Finance Center Lady Crushers capped an undefeated regular season showing in the Bud Light Women’s Futsal League with the 2017 championship title Sunday, winning against Quality Distributors 9-2 at the Guam Sports Complex gym.
A defensive lapse by Quality Distributors in final three minutes of the first half proved to be the game changer, as a barrage of goals by the Lady Crushers catapulted the team to a commanding 6-1 lead at the half.
Despite turning up the aggression on offense, Quality never recovered from the halftime deficit and was outscored by the winning team 3-1 in the second half for the final score.
Anjelica Perez and Colleen Naden combined for two-thirds of the Lady Crushers’ goal haul, each scoring a hat trick. Skyylerblu Johnson scored twice and teammate April Talledo scored the team’s other goal.
Paige Surber scored both of Quality’s goals.
In the consolation match, Hyundai avenged a regular season loss to the Bank of Guam Lady Strykers for the bronze finish 6-2.
Tiana Piper led all scorers with two for the winning team and teammates Erlissa Delfin, Levina Terlaje, Rhoda Bamba, and Arisa Recella also scored. Hannah Cruz and Sheena Borja scored for the Lady Strykers.
At the conclusion of both matches, Hyundai was awarded the third-place trophy and bronze medals with the consolation match win and Quality received the runner-up trophy and silver medals. The Lady Crushers received the champions trophy and gold medals for their efforts in the championship match. Naden was selected as the championship match MVP and awarded a trophy in addition to the Co-Golden Boot award she shared with teammate Johnson.
