NAPA Rovers Masters completed the team’s sweep of all top awards of the 2017 Red Dragon Sports Co-Ed Masters League after routing United Masters 5-1 in the league’s championship match Friday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

PRESS RELEASE – NAPA Rovers Masters completed the team’s sweep of all top awards of the 2017 Red Dragon Sports Co-Ed Masters League after routing United Masters 5-1 in the league’s championship match Friday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Jeremy Hare led all scorers with a hat trick and teammates Courtney Salgado and Simie Willter scored one each for the winning team. United Masters’ Takefumi Inoue prevented a Rovers Masters clean sheet with his team’s lone goal in the 79th minute.

The championship title is the Rovers Masters’ sixth in the league’s seven-year history and adds to the league’s individual awards earned by Rovers Masters players. Ian Lawton secured the league’s Golden Boot Award scoring the most goals during the regular season and David Drews won the league’s Golden Glove Award, allowing the fewest number of goals in the most minutes played as goalkeeper. United Masters is the only other team to ever win the league title, garnering top honors in 2015.

In the league’s consolation match, Hyundai Family FC topped Big Blue Masters 5-1 for third place. Sung Jin Kim was on fire for his team, finishing with a hat trick before the hour-mark. Woo Jin Jeon and Chul Park also scored for Hyundai Family FC. Tom Schils scored Big Blue Masters’ lone goal.

Players from Hyundai Family FC received bronze medals for their efforts during a short awards ceremony at GFA following the conclusion of the championship match. United Masters received silver medals for the runner-up finish and NAPA Rovers Masters received gold medals and the champions trophy for the team’s first place finish. Lawton and Drews also received trophies.
